What is the difference between Mindraf and Hindraf? Malaysiakini

Out of all the political parties present in Malaysia now. DAP stands more of de-racialised non-communitarian politics in Malaysia. PKR can be argued as one as well but the whole set up of it was more like justice for one man than justice for a nation. It has been trying to accommodate for all now. But it has more cracks and plastering to do before it is considered genuine.

Hindraf should be part of a political entity because their concerns are political related. How long are they to beg by the doors of parliament? The move to remove political members in Hindraf was definitely called for. Having political friendly politicians makes their movement more legitimate. Hindraf is and should always be only a watch dog for the Indian community and a Hindu movement for spearheading legal actions against wrong doing parties.

The members from Hindraf who want to embark into politics should approach DAP and PKR to create a balance representation or start a genuine multi racial party. With people who believe in Makkal Sakthi and have genuine grouses about the malaysian society. If Mindraf is started than all the principles of their struggle when started, would contradict now. Hindraf was against BN formulation. A party like MIC did not function well under BN regime. Which was controlled by UMNO.

To every struggle there must be a starting point. Hindraf should have started their political pursuit in the beginning. Right after the mammoth rally. It has lost a lot of it's momentum over the year. But on the other hand a lot was promised to Hindraf when Anwar, Kit Siang and all the others jumped into the election frontline in the name of Makkal Sakthi. But not much was seen after that. There are still 3 more guys in ISA and 1 exiled. If these men were masquerading as fighters for the Indians they would have given up or backed down by now. But their spirits are still burning brightly without fail. I respect these men. So Thanedra’s action to start a political party is in a way playing the political game. The government’s action to outlaw Hindraf is reasons for the political action by Hindraf members. I hope they dissolve the party and form a united racial party when the time comes for that.

I was also fighting and persuading my friends of my society to understand Hindraf. Many of them were too accustomed to the good life of Malaysia that they failed to see the balance 80 percent of Indians who live below the average income group. Indians have no savings. We have not much asset or advantage in this country. So even though I agree that injustice and lack of representation of many other communities are also present. But somebody has to do it. So if you aren’t then you shouldn’t stop those who are trying to protect theirs.

Indians should be in politics. It is a must. Good man with good virtues and vision should be leading this community. There must be proper representation of all races in a cabinet. No leader can see what is needed by individual communities if there isn’t someone to represent them.

The rule of law should exist for all.

I'll be gone for awhile. Happy Deepavali Everyone.

My dear friends,
I'll be gone for awhile. I might not write for awhile. Happy Deepavali to all Malaysians. Hope this year 2008 festival of lights would bring brightness to all the marginalised Indians and other races of Malaysia. Over this 50 years, Malaysia has become a country for a few powerful and well placed individuals in the Barisan Nasional Party. Many were booted out in the recent 2008 Election but there were many who still managed to hold on to their seats. But let this be a reminder. Hindraf's 2007 massive rally is nearing a year. This country has changed slightly. The Birth of a true opposition party has been realised. But the struggle and fate of the Indians are still as hazy as it has was in the beginning.
Another earth moving struggle will surface and it will crumble BN. Hindraf cannot be killed, tortured, poisoned or destroyed. Because it has no head, tail or body. It's a voice, an awakening. Makkal Sakthi is an conscious.
You cant arrest 2 million people. You cant catch 2 million. But U might be able to catch me and few others who are like me but another one will take my place. And after him another. How long can you keep catching and locking up us? Because we are here to stay and stay we shall. God save the King and Malaysia.

Hindraf To Visit PM again in Penang today!

Hindraf has planned to visit Badawi at his open house in Penang today. The ones who went to PWTC on Hari Raya to meet him were the supporters from the south. This ones are from the North. It's Expected to be a thousand of them this time. But i'm sure this time around it wont just be Hindraf making the waves because alot of others have seen it's effectiveness and would like to participate this time. There is a saying no publicity is bad publicity. The reason in carrying out this protest is to show mass public protest againts government actions. It's like playing Black Jack. You reveal just enough to intimidate your opponent to act. Hindraf has done eveything peacefully so far. So the harsh comments to demonise Hindraf is purely lying thru their teeth.

A few of the comments from Malaysiakini and Utusan.

Timo Finian: To aspire to be a politician in the Malaysian sense, one has to be an idealist. To sustain oneself as a politician in the Malaysian sense, one has to be a materialist.

What does Hindraf hope to accomplish going against a battalion of hard-core materialists is anyone's guess. As far as the latter are concerned, the vile ISA, the centre of all the commotion, is to protect their own selfish interests and has nothing to do with ideology.

It wouldn't have moved them even if the whole hall was filled with a sea of black and red t-shirts. They would only find it all the more amusing to the chagrin of the protesters.

A wiser alternative, to make their voices heard, would be to hit them where it hurts. A nationwide boycott of all Petronas stations would be a small start followed by government-owned banks, tabloids etc.

A quick check online could reveal a list of interests owned and operated by Umno fat-cats like hotels and gas-stations. The list could go on.

Bloggers, activists. you need your thinking-caps rather than t-shirts that 'make a lot of noise'.

Malay language daily Utusan Malaysia front-paged several comments by Islamic non- governmental organisations saying Hindraf’s attempt to meet the prime minister at the open house was ‘overboard, discourteous and disrespectful’.

"Their (Hindraf) action was an insult to the Muslims’ celebration, it is uncivilised and irresponsible," said Peninsular Malay Students Federation (GPMS) vice president Syed Anuar Syed Mohamad.
"GPMS requests the government to ignore them as Hindraf is not a legal institution. Action should be taken against them, no matter if it is ISA or other legal action," he added.

Shamsul Anuar Nasarah of the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) was reported as saying that the Hindraf nove was ‘disrespectful and untimely’.

Let me shed some light on the issue.

There is a lot of criticism towards Anwar's approach to forming a Federal Government. A very hot topic. But If i was in Anwar's position. Being the Governments Number 1 target and being a man fighting for justice. There is no point i sit and let them kill me. I need to hit them hard and fast. Best before they do something to me. Kill or get killed. You only live once.
4 years from now where do you think Anwar would be? The biggest possibility is in jail. Counting the rest of his life in there or probably as self exiled. Living abroad somewhere is Turkey or London. Barisan National has seen the change in Malaysians. They know they are not current with the peoples thinking anymore. If they have decided their time is up they could launder every bit of wealth they can get their hands on and leave a crippled country to the opposition to carry on. Our country is already in such a bad shape. Our economy is doing so bad and people are suffering. We are already in such a state, do you really want to wait for another 4 years? Some say the Pakatan Rakyat government should concentrate in running the 5 states they already have. Lets be frank. Do you think BN will let them grow and flourish and make the other states envy of them? They would try their level best to tarnish and destroy their oppositions credibility before the next general election. That is BN and they have proven them self as such.
10 months ago we didn't even have an opposition government. We didn't have Pakatan Rakyat. I should give the credits to Hindraf and their movement who broke the gates of this Superficial Multiracial Multi ethnic Governance act. 10 months ago even i never thought it would be possible to stand up against UMNO. At last we are evolving. 50 years it took us to see light. And yet so many condemned the time is not right.
There is movie by the name of The Great Debaters by Danzel Washington about a true story. In it there is a women debating about civil disobedience used by Gandhi to bring down the British Government. During the same period this movie portrays. In it she questions "People say it is not time for the blacks to be given rights and equal citizenship. Fine! then tell me when is?" So lets stop kidding our self.
It does not take time, it takes a leader with a heart and mind to changed injustice and to instill pride to it's nation. That's why we have great leaders at times and hopeless ones too.
I should praise Dr. S.Subramaniam and Zaid Ibrahim for condemning the use of ISA by their government. During Mahathirs era we hardly heard any of the party members opinion. Mahathir was the only spokesperson for the entire government. Badawi is the total opposite.

Whats wrong Mahathir?

If Hindraf is lying than so are you. Because only an Indian will know the struggle we go thru in this country. If a non-Muslim gives a racist remark than he has to make a public apology. The same rule applies to a Muslim. No one is better or superior. No races or religion can control a country. Look at America, Obama a minority race is leading the US Presidential race.
Malaysians have a long way to learn how to accept and respect all races. I don't believe Mahathir is relevant anymore to the Malaysian dreams. It's not about tall sky scrappers and big this or that. We don't need fame. We need transparency and accountability. We need a government who is made up of the people. Not like what it is now. There should not be allocation to everything in Malaysia. I cant be this because i can't make it under Malaysia's racial quota system. But i pay for your seat under this morally degrading system. I think Malaysia is moving too fast for him. Using race as a comparison itself is racist.

Is it because i'm Black!!

MP Gopalakrihnan and his boys were arrested, 9 Hindraf leaders were arrested in this Permatang Pauh Election period. Why is this double standards happening? Don't tell me it was a total coincidence they all happen to be Indians. To uphold the truth we get beaten up. Being an MP and the police can whack him till he landed in hospital. If we dont stand up for our rights. This racial side lining will never stop. Firm and corrective actions need to be taken. Never by the use of violent but i think an act of civil disobedience should pave the way. We have about 2 weeks to see if Anwar is able to topple the government. If unsuccessful then Hindraf has to rise to the occasion and lead the movement to topple UMNO.If the police are not scared in doing that than imagine where they have put us as Malaysians.
I will refuse to obey to their orders and i will refuse to be treated second class. I was born here, my father was born here and my grandfather was born here and my children will born here. This is my home and my future.
Malaysia adalah untuk Malaysian. Malaysia adalah negara yang berbilang kaum. Di dunia sekarang hampir semua negara berbilang kaum. Adakah mereka berkelakuan seperti UMNO. Mengunakan isu isu agama and kaum untuk memegang kepada kuasa. Hancur UMNO, Hancurkan Politik berasas kaum.

Makkal Sakthi Lost in Translation

Barisan Nasional or Umno has successfully used the Makkal Sakthi banner to steal some limelight for them self.
I am a supporter of the Hindraf movement. I appreciate and support their hard work and struggle to expose the truth and bring up the one of the most neglected race in Malaysia. Makkal Sakthi is slogan used to represent the fire that is burning in all Malaysians heart who want a fair and equal Malaysia. Makkal Sakthi meaning people's power is purely for pursuing justice.
Unfortunately to show that the government is listening to the Indian community needs. They allowed a splinter group from Hindraf to carry out a special prayers at seberang jaya for the 5 Hindraf leaders in ISA. Badawi even went to attend this function and gave his assurance to look into their 18 points memorandum. This is the man who could not even accept a rose from a child.
If Badawi wanted to show good faith. Release the 5 Hindraf leaders. Hindraf is not a political party. It does not want to get involved with politics. So by this function carried out by Mr VK Regu only allows BN to use it as a platform to only garner the Indian sympathy votes for Arif Shah.
Another political game played by BN so professionally. But i think they did not expect the true hindraf to intervene so quickly. Hence the commotion at the function. VK regu was a member of hindraf but left it for sometime. He still believes in the struggle but hindraf has to plan and decide every action they take to ensure that the wrong message is not sent out. Having most of their leaders in prison they have to make sure they thread very carefully. The last thing they want to do is create racial tension. It is very easy to be misinterpreted. So by Mr.VK Regu's action, he was not considering the entire Hindraf struggle. Especially at a time were an election is being carried out. The 8 Hindraf leaders arrested yesterday was not necessary. Even 2 womens were arrested. I think the government blundered at that point. I'm sure the Indians are definitely not going to vote for BN now. Arif shah you just lost your 6% of vote.
Alot have criticised Anwar for showing support to Hindraf. He might or might not believe in their struggle but he has given them the encouragement and support they needed to keep the struggle going as even he is struggling for justice.
Anwar is not very much different from Mahathir. They are both very intelligent man. They both have the capability to bring Malaysia to great height's. Malaysia deserve an intelligent and capable Prime Minister. So lets not deprive Malaysia. The difference between this men's are that Anwar will owe his position to the people and Mahathirs was to his party.
Anwar has to stay true to his words because like a scientist. He has created a creature. If he betrays it then it will only destroy him. Just like playing with fire.
The People's Voice is much more stronger now. It will keep on growing. If Anwar fails in his task then I'm very sure the people will raise against him in the future. The Pandora's box has opened. So there is no point in UMNO's struggle. It is a falling party. If not now then by the next general election we will see it collapse.
